How do I update my spam filter settings?

Junk Mail Quarantine

The quarantine displays messages that have been detected as spam and stores them for 10 days after which time they are automatically deleted. If you prefer, you do not need to log-in to the web-based interface and you can elect to have a summary of blocked messages emailed to you. To enable this, go to Email Notifications and sign up for the Message Digest. Specify the day(s) when you would like to receive the digest. The timing can be daily, weekly, or even every other day. When viewing messages in the Digest or in the Quarantine, users can elect to have any message delivered to them by clicking on the Release link.

My Whitelist

Users can enter an address or domain from which they choose to receive email that bypasses the spam filters. Since it is possible for legitimate email to be blocked – even though the incidence rate is extremely low – whitelisting ensures that email is delivered from a particularly important sender.

To create a whitelist, go to My Whitelist (under Message Handling) and enter (you can copy & paste) addresses or domains. Your whitelist can be expanded or edited at any time.

My Blacklist

The opposite of a whitelist, users can enter an address or domain from which they choose not to receive email. This is typically used when users have registered to be on an email list or newsletter from which they have difficulty removing themselves.

Default Spam Handling

The default setting for our domain is Medium which means between 95% and 98% of spam will be detected and blocked.

Reporting

There is an option for users who prefer not to log-in to the web-based quarantine and instead would like to receive a message digest in their inbox. To do this, go to Email Notifications and sign up for the Message Digest. This enables delivery of a summary list of all blocked messages. Specify the day(s) when you would like to receive the digest. The timing can be daily, weekly, or even every other day. Just check the day(s) for delivery.
